AIMS Diabetes Camps – Bringing Care to Your Community

Our diabetes camps are designed for communities where quality diabetes care is scarce, and for individuals who cannot afford regular medical services. We focus on financially constrained communities, minorities, and disaster-affected areas. Rather than a one-time visit, we commit to long-term care by conducting 10-12 consecutive camps in each community. This approach allows us to provide Diabetes Self-Management Education and ensure lasting impact.

Services We Offer

At each camp, patients receive a comprehensive set of services including:

  • Random Blood Sugar Test
  • Height, Weight & BMI Check
  • Blood Pressure Check
  • Dental Screening
  • Eye Screening
  • Diabetic Foot & Wound Screening
  • HbA1c Test
  • Doctor’s Consultation
  • Medicines including Anti-diabetic, Antihypertensive, Painkillers, and Insulin

Why These Camps Matter?

Diabetes is a growing health challenge in Pakistan. According to the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) 2023, over 33 million adults in Pakistan live with diabetes, with prevalence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa approaching 16–18% among adults. Early detection, regular monitoring, and proper education are crucial to prevent complications such as vision loss, kidney disease, and diabetic foot ulcers. Our camps make this care accessible to those who need it most.

Our IMPACT

Since 2015, we have conducted over 250 full-scale camps, screening and treating more than 21,250 individuals. Among these:

  • 64.07% were females, 35.93% males
  • Majority aged 25–54, followed by 55+ and 7–24 years
  • 64% had Type-2 diabetes, 8% Type-1, and 28% were non-diabetic
  • Glycemic levels (measured via HbA1c) improved in 34% of patients through proper nutrition guidance and medications in our camps. DOTS observation therapy called Family based Treatment supporter program under which each patient’s family member is trained to monitor his/her diet control, exercise and medication regime after three months HBA1c is repeated to note the trend of patients response to AIMS community based diabetes care.
